Begin the 8-day Georgia tour by arriving in the heart of Georgia, Tbilisi. Transfer to your hotel for a quick break. Next, meet your guide in the hotel lobby to begin your Tbilisi city tour. Your first stop is at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Georgia's tallest religious structure, constructed between 1993 and 2004.
The gilded dome dominates Tbilisi's skyline. Proceed to the ancient quarters, stopping by Metekhi Church, a historical sentinel overlooking the Mtkvari River. Ascend to Narikala Fortress, a 4th-century stronghold, via ropeway and enjoy the city's panoramic splendor. Descend to Meidan Square and wander to Abanotubani, which is known for its historical sulfur baths. Explore Legvtakhevi Canyon to find Tbilisi's hidden waterfall. Walk along Shardeni Street, which is known for its quaint cafes and wine bars. Visit Sioni Cathedral, Georgia's sanctified emblem, which houses St. Nino's revered cross. The Tbilisi city tour concludes at Freedom Square, passing iconic landmarks including the Bridge of Peace and Anchiskhati Basilica, before returning to your hotel. In the evening, we will enjoy delicious local cuisine with traditional Georgian dances at the restaurant. Overnight in Tbilisi.
Head to Kakheti, a region known for its long history of winemaking. Visit the Ikalto Monastery, a medieval Georgian Neoplatonist academy where the renowned poet Shota Rustaveli is believed to be studied. Proceed to the Alaverdi Monastery, an ecclesiastical citadel established by monk Joseph Alaverdeli. This 11th-century complex is surrounded by fortified walls and houses monastic cells, a refectory, unique wine cellars, baths, and more. Next, stop by Tsinandali, Alexander Chavchavadze's 19th-century home that embodies Georgian aristocratic sophistication through its exquisite English Garden and a wine cellar with a unique assemblage of Georgian and European wines. Enjoy a complimentary glass of Tsinandali white wine. Continue to Telavi, where you will explore Batonis Tsikhe and the massive Giant Plane Tree before spending the night.
Your day begins with a visit to the Gremi fortress, a 15th-century architectural marvel that houses a church, palace tower, and a museum. Travel to Kvareli and visit Khareba Winery, a unique wine cellar nestled in the Caucasus Mountains that offers a wine tour and tasting. Travel to Sighnaghi, the renowned 'city of love,' perched atop a hill. Its ancient walls provide breathtaking views of the Alazani Valley. Finish at Bodbe Monastery, a peaceful 9th-century nunnery famous among tourists. Return to Tbilisi for an overnight stay.
Depart for Kazbegi, stopping at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Jvari Monastery, perched majestically at the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. Next, visit the Ananuri Fortress, a stunning ensemble of churches, towers, and defensive walls set against the backdrop of the Zhinvali reservoir. Follow the Georgian Military Highway to Kazbegi, stopping at Gudauri View Point and the Jvari Overpass Travertine Natural Monument. In Stepantsminda, hike or drive to Gergeti Holy Trinity Church for a breathtaking view of Mount Kazbek. Finish the day with an overnight stay in Gudauri.
In the morning, drive to Gori, explore the house-museum of Joseph Stalin which includes a defense pavilion, Stalin's armor-plated train carriage, and a museum. Discover Uplistsikhe, an ancient cave town with numerous structures from the first and second millennia B.C. The complex includes several cave rooms like the Theatre, Queen Tamar's Hall, Uplistsuli Church, and a subterranean river tunnel. Travel west to Kutaisi, passing the Likhi Ridge, also known as the Rikoti Pass. Arrive at Kutaisi, the ancient city with a history of 3500 years. Drop off at your hotel.
In the morning, start your Kutaisi city tour. Visit Gelati Monastery, a UNESCO site symbolizing Georgia's prosperous era. Explore Motsameta Monastery and Bagrati Cathedral, and continue to Prometheus Cave's subterranean marvels. Explore the breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites 40 meters below sea level. Travel to Batumi in the Adjara region for an overnight stay.
Begin your sightseeing tour of Batumi, one of Georgia's oldest seaside cities blending historical and modern elements. Along with the historical sites, Batumi now also offers us a 7-kilometer boulevard lined with modern architecture, bungalows, café-lounges, restaurants, children's attractions, benches, sculptures, and dancing fountains. During our walking tour, we will see Europe Square, the beautiful Piazza Square with St. Nicholas Church, Chacha Fountain, 6 May and Nuriegel Lake, Alphabet Tower, the "Ali and Nino" statue, Batumi Port, and Seaside Park. Take a panoramic cable car ride to Batumi's stunning viewpoint. In the evening, catch a train or drive to Tbilisi overnight.
